Concurrent enrollment (CE) students taking classes at either Online, @High School Select, or @Campus Select must contact their high school counselor to ensure the high school pays their LCC tuition. All CE students must also enroll in and authorize the College Opportunity Fund (COF).
Home school students are considered self-pay students and, as such, will be responsible for the tuition of their course.
Why do I see a balance on my account?
Have no fear; this is normal. You might see a balance on your account until payment is received from a contractual school. Balances can also exist if you have not applied for and authorized COF for the term.
Students are responsible for paying fees and courses not covered by their sponsoring school. Tuition and fees will appear on all student accounts when they register and remain on the account until the school is invoiced for the applicable term. This balance will not cause you to be dropped from your courses. If you have questions regarding charges or payments on your account, please contact the Cashier’s Office at 719-336-1593 for assistance.
Concurrent Enrollment offers students the chance to develop college success skills while still benefiting from the support of high school counselors and family. We encourage high school students to explore the challenges of college by considering the following:
Deadlines and Important Dates: Time Management
Balancing high school, college, friends, work, and family commitments can be challenging. Students are encouraged to consider their commitments and prioritize their time to succeed in college classes. @College Select concurrent enrollment classes at LCC meet less frequently than high school classes so maintaining effective time management can be more challenging. Please seek LCCs resources if you need help.
Rigor
These are college courses, and students are expected to meet the higher standards set by their instructors. Typically, college classes require about 2 hours of homework per week for every hour of class. For example, if you’re enrolled in a 2-credit class, you can expect around 6 hours of homework each week. Remember, LCC offers free resources to help, including tutoring in math, science, writing, and more. Be sure to explore LCC’s tutoring options.
Maturity
While CE courses are taken in high school, students are expected to demonstrate a high level of maturity in college classes. This includes advocating for themselves when they have questions or need help and exhibiting appropriate behavior in class. Students taking classes @Campus Select, @High School Select, or online will be enrolled with students of all ages. They may encounter classroom discussions or materials that some students or parents might consider more ‘mature’ content.
Deadlines
In college, meeting deadlines is critical. A DEADLINE is a DEADLINE. Many instructors have strict policies on late submissions and will not be flexible. Some of these deadlines can include registration and drop dates which cannot be extended. Others are assignment deadlines within courses. Please stay aware of these important dates and to plan accordingly to meet them.Concurrent enrollment (CE) students taking classes at either @High School Select or @Campus Select must contact their high school counselor to ensure the high school pays their LCC tuition. All CE students must also enroll in and authorize the College Opportunity Fund (COF).
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is an act that provides students with the privacy of their student record upon turning 18, or upon enrolling in college classes at any age. As a result of FERPA, colleges are not able to share information about a student’s record with anyone other than the student without a FERPA waiver on file. In your CE contract, high schools are released with a limited amount of information. If a student would like their parent(s) to have access to this information, or would like to release more information than authorized to school, a separate FERPA waiver must be filled out for each additional authorization and on record at the college. Students can utilize the learning management system, called Desire2Learn, to show others their progress in classes and grades; however, without a waiver, LCC is unable to release information.

Please check “Important Dates” for Drop and Withdrawal deadlines.
Drop Deadline
@High School Select:
When dropping a course contact your high school counselor to see how it will reflect on your LCC transcript.
@College Select or Online:
When dropping a CE course, please discuss the impact on your transcripts with your counselor. You can drop the course yourself by logging into your LopeAccess account and selecting the Course Planning & Add/Drop/Withdrawal icon before the specified drop date, so it doesn’t reflect on your LCC transcript.
Withdraw Deadline
@High School Select:
Talk to your counselor about your options by the appropriate withdrawal deadline.
@College Select or Online:
Please discuss the implications of withdrawing from a course. However, if you are moving out of the area or risk failing, you might consider withdrawing from a course. This will reflect a “W” on your LCC transcripts. Talk with your LCC instructor about your grade and, if necessary, withdraw from the course by accessing LopeAccess by the appropriate withdrawal deadline.
The COF – College Opportunity Fund – helps students by providing stipends to eligible undergraduate students in Colorado. This money pays a portion of your CE tuition at LCC. Remember to make sure you check “YES” to allow LCC to apply and authorize your College Opportunity Fund (COF) when completing the admission application. The College Opportunity Fund is an important part of covering your tuition. Both CE and Beyond High School Programs require COF funds to be applied to tuition costs. If COF is not authorized, you might be responsible for this portion of your tuition.
It is common to see HOLDs on the account after applying. Please call Student Services at 719-336-1590 for assistance in removing holds.
If you are a home-schooled student, or in some rare cases, when school districts do not/cannot cover tuition costs, do not worry; you can still take advantage of Concurrent Enrollment and self-pay for college classes at LCC. Meet with your high school counselor, contact us, or email LCC Concurrent Enrollment about your options and the classes you are interested in taking at LCC or online campuses.
