Girls in the Middle conference set for March 2

Area fifth through eighth grade girls are invited to explore new careers at the 11th annual Girls in the Middle conference coming up on Saturday, March 3, at Lamar Community College.

Girls in the Middle is a one-day conference that aims to introduce middle school girls to a wide range of career opportunities and encourage them to continue studying math, science, and technology as they continue their education.

Girls in the Middle includes opportunities for attendees to interact with women working in a wide variety of professions and to explore those professions through hands-on activities.  This year will highlight careers in anthropology, chiropractic medicine, engineering, law enforcement, architecture, and more.

Registration for Girls in the Middle will open on Friday, February 1.  Registration will be available online at lamarcc.edu/GIM.

Students interested in attending the conference are encouraged to register as soon as possible.  The fee to attend the conference, which includes lunch and a t-shirt, is $5 for those who register online before the event and $7 at the door.  For more information on the Girls in the Middle conference, visit www.lamarcc.edu/GIM or contact Jenna Davis at 719.336.1589.
