Southeastern Colorado well-represented at CSEF

Nineteen students from Southeastern Colorado competed in the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF) held April 5-7, 2018.  These students, grades 6-12, displayed nineteen projects and competed for cash awards, scholarships, and recognition among the top budding scientists in the state.

CSEF Grand Award winners included:

  • Chase Cromwell from Lamar High School in Senior Division Engineering
  • Kylie Franklin from Campo High School in Senior Division Animal Science
  • Brakelle Westphal from Springfield Middle School in Junior Division Behavioral and Social Sciences

In addition to her Grand Award, Westphal also received nomination to the Broadcom MASTERS science and engineering competition for middle school students.

Several students also brought home special awards presented by sponsors, colleges and industry including: Chase Cromwell of Lamar High School, Amber Gilmore of Lamar Middle School, and Zack Rankin of Alta Vista School.

These students earned their spot at the CSEF by earning top honors at the Southeast Regional Science Fair held at Lamar Community College earlier this year.

Congratulations to all of the Southeast Region’s CSEF participants!
