Apply for LCC ScholarshipsColorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) Scholarships
Back-to-Work Community Partner Program Grant
Ideal for adult students, Back-to-Work COSI funds are available to Colorado residents who have had a job loss or loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic and want to retrain or up-train to rejoin the workforce in high-demand occupation or one of Colorado’s “Hot Jobs.” Can be credit or non-credit training.
- Displaced and/or economic impact due to COVID-19 pandemic (must be willing to sign an affirmation statement)
- Must complete a non-credit credential (through Ed2Go) or LCC certificate/degree before June 2024
- New, re-engaged, or currently enrolled students
- 0-250% of Pell-eligibility (Estimated Family Contribution of 15515 or less for 2022-2023 academic year)
- Students seeking credentials or degrees aligned with Colorado Top Jobs. Prioritizing health care, education, information technology and jobs with the greatest projected annual openings
- Must work with the COSI Student Success Workforce Navigator to eliminate barriers to completion. This includes at least two meetings per semester and other requirements.
- Complete the COSI Back to Work Participant Survey upon enrollment into the program
- Amount: $1,000 per semester, based on cost/credits. Additional funds may be available for indirect costs that create a barrier to completion.

Finish What You Started
At LCC, Finish What You Started COSI funds are available to Colorado residents who have completed some college but not obtained their credential or degree.
- Have previous college credits from a public/private higher education institution in the State of Colorado but did not complete a credential or degree before deciding not to enroll for two or more consecutive semesters
- Students must be completing their first postsecondary credential (30 credits or more) or degree.
- Recipients affirm economic hardship due to COVID-19 pandemic.
- Must work with the COSI Student Success Workforce Navigator to eliminate barriers to completion. This includes at least two meetings per semester and other requirements.
- Ideally, recipients would have 30 credits or more accrued
- Must complete a certificate or degree before June 2025
- Amount: $1,000 per semester, based on credits. Additional funds may be available for indirect costs that create a barrier to completion.

Baca, Bent, Cheyenne, Kiowa & Prowers County Matching Student Scholarship Grant
COSI Scholarships are provided with an initial allocation by the Colorado Department of Higher Education and matching funds by area donors including Baca, Bent, Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Prowers County Boards of Commissioners.
- Available to residents of Baca, Bent, Cheyenne, Kiowa and Prowers Counties completing their certificates or degrees.
- Must work with the COSI Navigator to eliminate barriers to completion. This includes at least two meetings per semester and other requirements.
- Recipients must be within 250% of Pell eligibility as determined by FAFSA or CASFA.
- Amount: $1,000 per semester, based on credits

Baca, Bent, Cheyenne, Kiowa & Prowers County Matching Student Scholarship – Concurrent Enrollment
Utilizing COSI Matching Student Scholarship funds, the LCC Foundation offers limited Concurrent Enrollment scholarships for area high school students intent on completing a certificate or degree in a career & technical education area via concurrent enrollment courses at LCC.
- Available to Baca, Bent, Cheyenne, Kiowa and Prowers County high school students with recommendation of high school counselor
- Students must be intent on completing their program of study ideally for immediate entrance into workforce.
- Limited to fall and/or spring semesters
- Must work with the COSI Navigator to eliminate barriers to completion. This includes at least two meetings per semester and other requirements.
- Recipients must be within 250% of Pell eligibility as determined by FAFSA, CASFA or FAFSA4Caster.
- Requires a different application process. Contact high school counselor or COSI Navigator for application
- Amount: Variable based on program of study
- Application Due: Prior to the beginning of the fall or spring semester.

Colorado Community College Foundation Scholarships
The Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges (FCCC) has additional scholarship opportunities for all students attending Colorado Community College System-member schools, including Lamar Community College.
Community Scholarships
Applicants are encouraged to regularly check the Zonta website for deadlines and updates.
Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship
- Must have volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women.
- Application Due: February 1, 2024

LCC & Non-Traditional Scholarships
- Must be a full-time female student from Prowers, Kiowa, Baca or Bent County, CO. working toward a degree which will advance the status of women. Maintain a grade point average (GPA) 3.0 or better.
- Amount: $600 per semester (fall and spring)
- Application Due: April 3, 2024

For individuals who wish to further their education in the fields of Human Services or Education with an emphasis in Special Education. Priority given to those who document a connection to someone with an intellectual and/or developmental disability or a love for recycling. More information can be found at www.sdsccb.org.

- Walter Ely Memorial Scholarship application form
A $300 book scholarship to be awarded to a student from Southeast Colorado attending any college, university or technical school offering an agricultural curriculum. Student’s major must be agriculture-related. The $300 award will be paid to the student.

- SE Colorado Cattlewomen Scholarship application form
Selection based primarily on an applicant’s financial need, proven academic ability, personal essay, and educational desire, in addition to the following criteria:
- SE Colorado resident
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
- Amount: $1,000 per semester (Fall and Spring), $500 PHEF/$500 LCC

Peoples Credit Union is offering four (4) $3,000.00 scholarships. They are open to all PCU members who will be 2023 graduates, intending to proceed immediately to a college, university or technical institute this summer or next fall, and have maintained a grade point average of no less than 2.5 for the seven (7) semesters preceding graduation. See link for additional information and criteria.
- Amount: $3,000 per year
- Applicants are encouraged to check the People’s Credit Union website regularly for updated deadlines.

Available to permanent residents of alternating counties each year. In example, Baca, Kiowa, and Prowers County residents may apply in even years. Bent, Cheyenne, and Otero scholarships are funded in odd years.
- Amount: $500 annual award

Available to up to five eligible Denver Public School students completing requirements prior to set deadlines and attending LCC in fall 2023

Colorado Women’s Education Foundation (CWEF) is a 501(c)3 that awards scholarships to women of nontraditional age. www.cwef.org Eligible applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic ability, leadership skills, career goals, and community involvement.
To be eligible you must be:
- A woman (identify as a woman) at least 25 years of age by May 31st
- A resident of Colorado for at least 12 months prior to the application deadline (You must reside in Colorado while earning your certification or degree)
- Enrolled in or attending an accredited educational institution of higher learning or vocational training
- Applicants can be earning a certification, or associates, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree
- Able to provide a college or high school transcript showing your cumulative grade point average
- Applications Due: April 30, 2024

Sandstone Care has created a scholarship for current or incoming college students who are dealing with or have dealt with substance use/mental health struggles.
- Applications Due: May 1, 2024
- Application Instructions: Complete scholarship application form at sandstonecare.com/scholarship and submit a 1-3 minute video that answers one of the following prompts:
- 1. How has therapy helped you overcome challenges related to your mental health or addiction struggles?
- 2. How has focusing on your mental health or substance use recovery journey helped you to become a better student?
