LCC Testing Center now certified for CLEP testing

The Testing Center at Lamar Community College is now certified to offer College Level Examination Program (CLEP) testing.

CLEP includes standardized exams that assess college-level knowledge in a variety of subjects ranging from college composition and Spanish to calculus and American government.  The program falls under College Board and the exams are accepted as college level credit at many colleges and universities.

CLEP testing is frequently used by graduating high school seniors who know the material for a specific course and wish to test out instead of taking the college class.  CLEP testing may also be helpful to individuals with course experience from unaccredited institutions or those with extensive industry experience.

The current cost for the 90 minute exams include $80.00 for registration and a $35 administration fee.  A total of 33 exams are available and registration may be completed online at https://clep.collegeboard.org. Once the student registers, he or she can contact the LCC Testing Center to schedule a testing appointment. Upon successful completion of the exam, College Board sends a transcript to the student’s selected institution.

LCC Testing Center’s efforts to expand test offerings is part of a larger Student Success project that has also involved a complete Testing Center renovation.  The Testing Center is now located in Betz Technology Center, which allows students and community members to seamlessly move between admissions, academic advising, and testing.  LCC continues to offer GED testing and plans to expand offerings further.
