Lamar Community College hosts second annual Princess Day, Treat Street

The Halloween holiday started on Monday, October 30, at Lamar Community College with the second annual Princess Day and Treat Street events.

Princess Day, hosted in the LCC Cosmetology Salon, included hair braiding and nail painting free of charge for children who wanted to complete their Halloween look.  It was a busy day in the Salon with approximately 35 kids along with their families coming in to take advantage of the day.

“As a department, we really enjoyed donating our time to help the kids with their costumes,” Kendra King, Cosmetology department head, said of the event.

The LCC Cosmetology and Barbering students went with the princess theme, dressing up as Disney princesses as well as the seven dwarves.

Later that evening, nearly 500 trick or treaters came to the LCC campus with their parents and family for Treat Street, hosted by LCC and KVAY.  Dinosaurs, heroes, and scary figures wandered through the Betz Technology Center gathering candy from local businesses as well as LCC departments and teams.

“We really look forward to hosting this event each year,” said Tori Hawks, LCC Recruiter. “It’s great to have all the kids dressed up on campus and having fun.”

Later that night, KVAY sponsored a movie night for the college students, showing the classic film, Night of the Living Dead.

LCC would like to say thank you to KVAY as well as all of the local businesses and student groups that came out to make the event a success.
