Lamar Community College has named Dr. Lisa Schlotterhausen as the next Vice President for Academic and Student Services. Dr. Schlotterhausen, who is currently serving as the Interim Dean of Academic Affairs at Riverland Community College in Austin, Minnesota, will assume her role at LCC on April 16, 2018.
“Each of our finalists was outstanding,” said Dr. Linda Lujan, President of Lamar Community College. “What stood out to me were Lisa’s experiences, especially in the areas of accreditation, institutional research, strategic planning, and resource development, which will all enhance LCC’s successes with students and our communities.”
Dr. Schlotterhausen comes to Lamar after serving more than ten years as a dean in community colleges in the Minnesota State System. Her current college, Riverland Community College, is similar to LCC in that it is a smaller rural institution with residence halls and athletics.
In her time at Riverland, Dr. Schlotterhausen assisted in the creation of a new Center for Agriculture and Food Science Technology. She was instrumental in aligning the Student Success Center with academics to better serve students. She also has strong experience with concurrent enrollment, competency-based curriculum, and developing programs to meet the needs of adult learners.
“I am honored to have been chosen as Lamar Community College’s next Vice President for Academic and Student Services,” Dr. Schlotterhausen said of her new position. “My visit to campus in January was energizing and welcoming. LCC’s core values and commitment to its community were very evident and made my decision to come to Lamar easy.”
Dr. Schlotterhausen brings great depth to the Vice President position. Her prior experience includes serving as the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning at Century College, White Bear Lake in Minnesota; the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness at North Hennepin Community College, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; Academic, International, and Financial Aid Advisor at North Hennepin Community College; and International Student Advisor at Stony Brook University.
She is also an Academic Quality Improvement (AQIP) peer reviewer and has served as an accreditation liaison for the Higher Learning Commission.
“I hope my experiences and skills can help LCC achieve its mission to enrich lives through learning,” she said. “I am looking forward to serving LCC and helping to provide the highest quality education to its students.”
Dr. Schlotterhausen has a Ph.D. in Anthropology from New York University, a M.Phil. in Anthropology from New York University; an M.A. in Anthropology from New York University; and a B.A. in Biology and Anthropology from Drew University.
