Possible threat at LCC investigated, resolved

The Lamar Police Department was called to Lamar Community College on Wednesday, February 21, for a possible threat. Upon investigation, both LCC Campus Safety and the LPD determined there was no threat. All students and staff are safe, but out of an abundance of caution the incident was investigated to the fullest extent.

Lamar Community College wants to reassure the public that the matter has been thoroughly investigated and resolved.

Most schools are more cautious now than ever before and Lamar Community College is no exception.  All potential threats are taken seriously and investigated by the proper authority depending on the scope of the incident. In this case, due to the nature of the potential threat, LCC Campus Safety worked alongside LPD to investigate.

“The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is of the highest importance at Lamar Community College,” said Linda Lujan, LCC President.  “In the wake of recent incidents, we all have a heightened awareness of potential safety risks. It is reassuring to know all our processes worked as planned.”
