Lamar Community College Hosts Colorado Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF)

This year’s Colorado Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF) was held April 11-13, 2019.

The Southeast Regional Science Fair was represented by 16 area students, grades 6- 12, displaying 16 projects. These students competed for cash awards, scholarships, and recognition among the top budding scientists in the state.

CSEF Grand Award winners included: Brakelle Westphal from Springfield Middle School placing second in Junior Division Behavioral and Social Sciences, Abigail Ross from Lamar Middle School placing second in Junior Division Earth and Space Sciences and Jaime Hume from Walsh Elementary with an Honorable Mention in Junior Division Plant Sciences.

In addition to their second placings, Brakelle Westphal and Abigail Ross also received nomination to the Broadcom MASTERS science and engineering competition for middle school students.

Several students also brought home special awards presented by sponsors, colleges and industry including: Brakelle Westphal of Springfield Middle School, Jaime Hume of Walsh Elementary and Cole Tedder of Walsh Junior/Senior High School.
