Tax Help Colorado to return to LCC

Each year, Lamar Community College partners with the Denver-based Piton Foundation to provide free tax preparation assistance to low-to moderate-income families through the Tax Help Colorado program.  At LCC’s free tax site, IRS- certified LCC students and volunteers help others file their tax returns while gaining invaluable work experience.

The students who serve as tax preparers for Tax Help Colorado learn the necessary skills in two courses at LCC: Individual Income Tax Preparation (ACC 132) and a following Lab Practicum (ACC 133).  They begin in the fall with ACC 132 and then enroll in ACC 133 during the spring semester to get hands-on experience during Tax Help Colorado.

The Individual Income Tax Preparation (ACC 132) is a late-start course, which will begin on October 2 and run through December 4.  Class will be held Monday evenings from 5:30-8:16pm.

Registration is open and space is still available.  Anyone interested in learning how to file income taxes for others is encouraged to register as soon as possible.

These two courses are a great opportunity for community members or existing LCC students to learn a specific, marketable skill that they can immediately put to use.  Additionally, with the hands-on experience during the Tax Help CO event, they will learn more rapidly and be confident in their skills.

For more information regarding the course or how to enroll, contact LCC Student Services at 719.336.1590.
