Lamar Community College is excited to announce the addition of Teresa Turner as the new Director of Financial Aid. Turner, who has extensive experience in financial aid for higher education, will bring a wealth of knowledge to the position.

“We are delighted to welcome Teresa Turner ‘home’ to Southeast Colorado and to LCC,” said Dr. Linda Lujan, LCC President. “She brings strong experience to a critical role at the college.”

Turner, a graduate of Cheraw High School, is moving a little closer to home and family after living in Arizona for years.

“I’m excited to become an integral part of what we stand for here at LCC and serving our students,” she said of her new position. “I’m also excited about becoming part of a small community again.”

Turner has worked in higher education for the past 30 years, all but three of which were spent working in financial aid.  Prior to taking the position at LCC in early December, she held a similar post at the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences, a technical school in Gilbert, Arizona, specializing in audio production.

Turner holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Leadership from Ottawa University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from National American University.

Turner loves her work and is excited to join the LCC organization. In all that she does, Turner strives to find the right financial aid plan to help each individual student.

“Every student is different,” she said. “You have to take the time to understand each individual and how to best financially support them in reaching their goals.”
