Cosmetology Career Academy
Welcome to Lamar Community College Cosmetology and congratulations on exploring a career in one of the most exciting occupational areas!
If you are creative, like meeting and working with people, and are interested in hair or nail trends, you could have a fun and rewarding career as a Barber, Cosmetologist, or Nail Technician.
LCC’s Cosmetology Career Academy offers Barber, Cosmetology, Hair Stylist and Nail Technician certificate programs, as well as an AAS in Cosmetology. Students learn and practice their skills in a newly renovated classroom and salon. They then hone their skills in the Cosmetology Student Salon getting hands-on experience with real clients.
Each certificate/degree program provides students with the skills and knowledge to successfully complete a certificate exam for licensure in the subject area. These programs meet the Colorado State Board of Barbers and Cosmetology contact hour requirements.
The Colorado State Board of Barbers and Cosmetology administers licensing examinations. Students are assisted in applying for the examination and subsequent license upon completion of their program at Lamar Community College.
Students engage in classroom clinical activities in their learning experience. These activities provide for practice on mannequins to acquire basic skills before advancing to supervised work experience on paying clients in the school salon on the LCC campus.
