Success Coaching

Starting college is about more than signing up for classes. It’s about building a life, figuring out what matters to you, and learning how to move forward with purpose. That’s where ASPIRA’s Success Coaches come in.

Success Coaches are your personal guide, advocate, and support system as you navigate college. Whether you’re exploring majors, figuring out time management, dealing with stress, or planning your future, your coach is here to help with no judgment or pressure, just support.

What Do Success Coaches Do?

Your coach will help you:

  • Build a personalized plan for your academic and personal goals
  • Identify your strengths and how to use them
  • Solve problems when college feels overwhelming
  • Connect to resources, events, and people on campus
  • Stay on track through regular check-ins and encouragement

You don’t have to have it all figured out. Coaching is about discovering what works for you and moving forward from wherever you are.

Why It Works

We use a strengths-based approach, which means we don’t focus on what’s “wrong” or missing; we start with what’s already good. Your talents, your lived experience, and your goals all matter. And when we work together from that place, it builds confidence, motivation, and momentum.

Coaching is also relational. That means your coach gets to know you and not just your schedule or your GPA. It’s a real partnership built on trust, respect, and shared problem-solving.

Who Can Meet With a Coach?

Success Coaching is free and available to all LCC students, although we prioritize service to those who are first-generation, Latinx, or are facing financial barriers. If you’re feeling unsure, behind, or just need someone to walk alongside you then this program is for you.

What to Expect

Most students meet with their coach a few times each semester. Some check in more often, others just when something comes up. You can talk about school, life, work, or anything that’s getting in the way of your goals. Sessions are informal, encouraging, and 100% focused on your success.

You’ll also see Success Coaches around campus visiting classes, hosting events, and helping out at things like Summer Bridge and registration days. They’re part of the community, not just a service.
